Tidewater is the Hampton roads area of Virginia. As far as I know it includes Norfolk, Hampton, Williamsburg ,York Town and the surrounding area of the Virginia peninsula. The term is rarely used these days generally the area is just called Hampton Roads. I live in Williamsburg, about an hour from Norfolk.
